Premiers of China and Kyrgyzstan Agree to Advance Agricultural Collaboration

The meet between Vice Premier of China Hui Liangyu and the Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev has brought in food news for the agriculture industry. Both the countries have agreed to further boost mutual trade and industry cooperation, especially in the field of infrastructure (construction) and agriculture. 

There has been continuous improvement in the economic cooperation between both the nations in the past few years, with increased cooperation at all levels. Political interests have been combined and economic and security cooperation strengthened over the years, which has brought both nations together.

Both China and Kyrgyzstan, support each other at national and international fronts on issues concerning their individual and mutual interests, and have become good neighbors. China finds its ties with Kyrgyzstan highly valuable and is willing to support Kyrgyzstan on the development path chosen by it. Kyrgyz-China mutual cooperation in various fields will be based on the structure of SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organization). These collaborative efforts were first started on the lines of ‘Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation’ between China and Kyrgyzstan signed a decade ago. The decision to support and strengthen agriculture and infrastructure cooperation came on the 10thanniversary of this treaty between both the countries.

Hui acknowledged the importance to boost economic and trade ties between the two neighbors to make the vision of the treaty realistic. He emphasized the need to reinforce cooperation in the field of agriculture, transportation, water conservation and energy (electricity). Kyrgyzstan too highlighted the importance to prioritize Kyrgyz-China relations in its foreign policy so as to bolster the Kyrgyz-China economic cooperation. Kyrgyzstan has always welcomed Chinese investment to best utilize the Chinese expertise and experience in the field of security, agriculture, and infrastructure.

The Vice Premier of China Hui Liangyu is in Kyrgyzstan on his way to visit Tanzania and Republic of Congo. He will also visit Uzbekistan later.
